Giving and Fundraising

To our United Community School families and partners:

Charter schools are public schools that receive public funds. The difference between charter schools and traditional public schools is that charter schools ONLY receive funding to operate (i.e. staff salaries, learning materials, utilities, and lease payments), at approximately $.73 on the dollar. As a charter school, UCS does not receive public funds for capital expenses (land, buildings, renovations, classroom furniture, and equipment) which are a significant part of our annual budget. If we received the same capital funds that traditional public schools receive, we would have less need for fundraising.

We ask that you ponder this challenge as a family and set goals for supporting our school financially through school centric fundraisers, personal donations, or any ideas you may have!

Thank you for your continued support and for helping us to achieve our mission at UCS!

Sincerely,

Erika Hedgepeth
Director of UCS
